的熊,

As we mark the end of the academic year, I want to thank each member of our university community 和 recognize all we have accomplished by working together to make the University of Northern Colorado a great place to learn 和 work.

On Friday 和 Saturday, we will 庆祝 approximately 1,200 graduates across four 仪式. I have already enjoyed seeing over the course of this week many graduating students at various year-end receptions. Our commitment to being Students First means that we exist to transform the life of every person who enrolls 在我们的 university. As this spring’s graduating class begins a new chapter, our entire UNC community looks ahead with anticipation to everything they will accomplish next.

This year has been one of significant progress toward the vision 和 outcomes articulated 在我们的 Rowing, Not Drifting 2030 战略计划. I 共享 at the start of this semester that I would be holding a series of discussions throughout the spring to engage with members of the university community on our top priorities.

Over the past four months, members of my leadership team 和 I held fireside chats 讨论 College of Osteopathic Medicine, Facilities Comprehensive Plan,最近的 校园气候调查,以及相关工作 Strategic Enrollment Management. Each discussion was well-attended by faculty, staff, 和 students, 和 I look forward to continuing to provide opportunities for informal conversation in the future.

We also came together for two town hall sessions to share updates, answer questions, 和 seek feedback on UNC’s current financial health 和 预算 outlook 和 priorities for the next phase of our 战略计划. Several hundred members of the university community participated in person 和 virtually, 和 I followed each session with further updates on the 预算战略计划ning efforts. 当我们总结 第二阶段 of our 战略计划, 我希望 you take pride 和 feel a sense of accomplishment in all we have been able to do by working together with a 共享 sense of purpose. I look forward to presenting in the fall the 共同开发 Phase III priorities that will guide us over the next two years. 如你所知,寻找 opportunities to bring our community together has always been important to me, 和 I am grateful to all who participated throughout the semester.

While you have already seen the announcements 和 news coverage, I want to again highlight some of our most significant accomplishments this year 和 thank you for helping make 他们发生. In March, I 共享 the exciting news that UNC has officially been designated a Hispanic Serving Institution 由美国.S. Department of Education. The official designation is important because it signals to students 和 their families that UNC is a place committed to fostering a sense of belonging for Hispanic 和 Latine communities. It also makes possible the pursuit of additional funding opportunities to continue to invest 在我们的 people 和 项目. This is part of our broader commitment to serving every student by ensuring that our university is a place where all individuals feel welcomed 和 supported.

We have also moved closer to realizing our vision to establish an osteopathic medical 博天堂官方. Our plans were boosted this fall with a 2500万美元的礼物 from The Weld Trust, which is the largest single gift 在我们的 university’s history. 上周, 议员们批准 House Bill 24-1231, which will allocate further funding for the initiative. 昨天, I attended, along with a small group of our strongest supporters, ceremony at which Governor Polis signed the bill into law. Work will continue over the summer to make progress on this initiative.

There is much more beyond these highlights to 庆祝 as we end the academic year. Please join me in pausing to reflect on our work together 和 taking time for rest 和更新. Whether it is enjoying the return of 半天星期五, making use of your vacation leave, or enjoying a different pace to your work, I hope the months ahead are restorative.

Thank you to every member of the UNC community for supporting our students. 我希望 many of you will join me in celebrating our graduates at this weekend’s commencement 仪式.
